We know that therapy, as we know it is, was not made with everyone in mind. We aim to change that.

Forward Wellness was incorporated in 2015 with the mission to support all people and families by increasing accessible, quality, socially conscious therapy and decreasing stigma of mental health struggles and treatment.

Forward Wellness was born after founder Jodie Hnatkovich lost her daughter, Mae, and struggled to find adequate support despite being a therapist herself. Jodie strove to fill that lifesaving gap and cultivated a practice centering trauma, grief, and loss across reproductive experiences.

Our practice continues to offer expertise in Reproductive Mental Healthcare, including across abortion, infertility, queer family building, medical and birth trauma, and pregnancy and infant loss.

Our practice grew to offer expertise in two other undersupported populations: trans, gender nonconforming, and LGBTQIA2S+ folks; and those who identify as neurodivergent and seeking acceptance, liberative based therapy.

What We Believe

Growth is a human condition.

Growth occurs through self-reflection and is an act of personal liberation.

Moving through discomfort to transformation is magnificent and as therapists, we are honored to be a witness.

There is no one correct way to heal and each of us has a unique story, thus each client deserves a flexible, unique and personal therapeutic experience.

We believe that abortion and reproductive freedom is lifesaving, essential physical and mental healthcare.

We believe that babies do best with their families.

We believe that gender and sexuality are not binary, and that each of us deserves to autonomously determine our relationships, bodies, and families.

We believe that ubiquitous racist, sexist, ableist policies and cultural norms must be examined and disrupted.

We believe that mental health care should be more accessible to those seeking care as well as expertise; we look to address gatekeeping and honor peer support models in our community.

None of us can grow in isolation – we all grow together.

Training Quality Clinicians

The more quality trained clinicians there are, the more people can be helped. Specifically, those that have been notoriously left behind. Through our Forward Allies initiative, we are able to collaborate with our community to spread awareness and better educate our mental health professionals.

Connecting With Our Community

We recognize that it can be difficult to access care through traditional methods. Low income, access to health care, limited trained clinicians, and busy schedules are just a few examples. That’s why it’s important to us to provide group coaching aimed at supporting all people and all families. These events allow more opportunities to receive care and help build a community of support. You can do this. We are in this together!
