Frequently Asked Questions

How Long are Sessions?
Sessions are 45-50 minutes in length

How does the insurance process work?

We bill for insurance through our practice for in-network and most out-of-network providers.  All copayments or deductibles are due at the time of service.  If you have an out-of-network provider, full payment is due at time of service.

What does the intake process look  like?

Once we confirm a first session, you will receive an email to log into our client portal and complete the intake paperwork (sometimes this email goes to spam or the promotions folder.)  The first session is more of a 'get-to-know you' session.  It is important that you feel comfortable with your counselor to get the full benefit from counseling.  After the first session, we will look at scheduling future sessions.

How frequently are session?
This depends on each individual.  We like to schedule weekly for the first 4-6 weeks to develop a rapport, but understand this is not always feasible.  Most common after the 4-6 week period is every other week (though weekly and monthly are common as well).

What do I do with my kiddos during session?
Babies in arms or slightly mobile are welcome in parent sessions.  Once the toddler is able to understand the conversation, then they are no longer welcome - this will be discussed case by case.  Some parents don't feel they will get the most out of a session with baby - and that is OK too.  We don't want lack of infant childcare to be the reason not to take care of yourself.

If this session is for the child, we will discuss this at the intake.  Often the intake will be with only the caretaker (to get a full description of concerns without harming the child)  and the following sessions will include the child.

If the child is over the age of 14, then it us up to the teenager if a parent will be allowed in the session - sorry parents, it is the law.

What is your sliding scale?
Our fee scale is $80-
We don't look at income - you pay what you are capable of paying each week within this scale.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash and check with no fee.  If you need to use a credit card, we do accept them via a square reader but with a small fee ($1 service fee and an additional dollar for each $50).
